The Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes the oil and gas industry to Guernsey County! The chamber's oil and gas coalition meets quarterly on the first Thursday of March, June, September and December at 9am at the Southgate Hotel. Open to Chamber members, this informative series of meetings bring our community together with representatives from the industry to discuss current issues and provide information about the shale play here in eastern Ohio.
Chamber Benefits and EventsMembers are invited to attend the Annual Dinner in January, the Home Show and Business Expo in March, and the Auctathon in September.
The Chamber hosts numerous events to encourage networking. Meeting potential customers is critical to the success of any business, so every month a Chamber member hosts a Business After Hours to showcase their business. What a perfect opportunity to meet other business people in the community! This open-house style event provides the perfect atmosphere for building business and personal relationships.
We offer a variety of advertising opportunities in Chamber publications like the Chamber Newsletter and our Flyer Mailings. We also will send out blast emails weekly for members to spread the word about members’ special promotions. We also distribute this Chamber Resource Guide to visitors and residents through member businesses and the tourist information center. Our annual Guernsey County Photo Calendar is another way to get your ad in front of hundreds of people and businesses. The chamber also offers advertising discounts in partnership with 6 local radio stations. We partner with Shawan-Marquis Agency to work together with our local Chamber member health insurance agents to provide cost saving opportunities of group health insurance for employers and their employees through Anthem/ Blue Cross and Blue Shield Chamber Plan.
Workers Compensation Program
Through CareWorks Consultants, Inc. Cambridge area Chamber of Commerce member businesses are eligible to save hundreds, even thousands, of dollars in Bureau of Workers’ Compensation premiums.
The Chamber and the BWC Division of Safety and Hygiene co-sponsor the Guernsey/Noble Safety Council. Its sole purpose is to provide a forum for safety and health information, education and networking in local communities. Meeting enrollment and attendance requirements in the Safety Council earns employers rebates on their worker’s compensation premiums.
Human Resource Roundtable
The Chamber co-hosts roundtable programs with local businesses that promote and share best practices. Attendees focus on relevant employment issues that affect their business and their employees. Speakers and industry experts provide direction and content for these quarterly sessions held at business member businesses.
The Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes accomplishments of its members in a variety of ways. Years in Business awards are given out at our June Business After Hours. Snazzy Awards for facility improvements are presented at the September Business After Hours. And the Sidlo Award for lifetime achievement is presented at the December Business After Hours.
Twenty adults and twenty high school juniors participate in 9 month programs of monthly day-long sessions to learn leadership skills and the workings of the community. Business leaders interact and mentor the classes, designed to enhance knowledge of the community, encourage involvement, and develop future leaders. Sponsored by local businesses, the program encourages volunteerism and fosters creativity and partnering.
Chamber Committees keep members in mind
The Business Advocacy committee of the chamber focuses its attention on key issues that may be facing businesses in Guernsey County. Whether it’s legislative issues, business regulations, or specific issues of local impact, the Business Advocacy committee identifies opportunities to deliver information, create awareness, or find solutions for our members.
Ribbon cuttings are signature events of the Chamber of Commerce. The Board of Directors and Chamber Staff welcome new chamber members to the business community to assure a successful launch of their business at their grand opening event.
Member businesses are listed on the chamber’s website, which can be found at cambridgesupersite.com. Website advertising is also available to promote a member’s business to visitors to the site.
Provide us with the flyers and we do the rest! The Chamber mails out flyers for member businesses throughout the year. Get your message out to all chamber members at a fraction of what you would spend on your own.
Chamber Bucks may be purchased at the Chamber office in $5 & $10 amounts. These gift certificates are redeemable at participating Chamber member businesses and they provide a great option for gift-giving and employee recognition. Chamber Bucks foster local shopping to keep monies in the Guernsey County area.
Newsletter Inserts and Logo Advertising
Our bi-monthly newsletter is read by over 700 business contacts. We can insert members’ flyers in the mailing, or members may elect to have their logo printed on the newsletter.
Once a week the chamber distributes emails to the entire membership base on behalf of participating business members. Member businesses provide specific details about their specials or promotions for efficient delivery to their target market.
Welcome Mat Program
A chamber staff member delivers a Welcome Tote chock full of promotional items from participating businesses to new residents in Guernsey County. Businesses may submit coupons, gifts, or brochures for inclusion in this tote to welcome new people to the community. New residents become familiar with the community and businesses quickly. It gives businesses a leg up acquiring customers who are new to town!
